The Harrier is the sweet spot for buyers who want a premium-feel SUV without full Prado size or fuel bill. It works for Nairobi commuting, upcountry weekends, and estates with tight parking.

Petrol vs hybrid (ZU60 / ASU60 era)

**Petrol 2.0/2.5** — simpler workshop story; watch timing chain service history on high-mileage units.
**Hybrid** — strong in stop-start traffic; budget for hybrid battery health checks and a specialist diagnosis, not just a dashboard light.

What to inspect

Panel alignment and paint depth (repairs are common on imports).
4WD operation if equipped — test on loose gravel, not only tarmac.
Infotainment, camera, and ADAS faults (expensive out of warranty).
Service stamps or verifiable Japan auction grade if imported.

Price negotiation

Compare **year, mileage, trim, and registration status** on live listings before you commit. A 2018 hybrid Premium and a 2016 petrol base are not the same car in resale or duty.

Next steps

Browse live Harrier stock, run a duty estimate if you are importing, and compare against Vezel or CX-5 if you want a smaller bill.
